Property Claims Handler (Domestic and Commercial) - Essex - up to £30k per annum plus free parking, 25 days holiday, hybrid working, pension, share scheme, extensive training programme and full support towards Cert CII.


A newly established team operating as part of one of the largest Independent Insurance Companies in the UK who have grown significantly are now seeking 2 experienced Household/Property Claims Handlers to join their vastly experienced and vibrant team where you will handle Domestic and Commercial Property Claims from first notification through to settlement up to £100k.

This is an exciting time to join where you will be part of new team who are and will continue to expand.

Hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm with an hour for lunch. Hybrid working with 3 days in the office 2 from home. Free car parking and full support to study towards Cert CII.


Key responsibilities:


  • Processing Insurance claims from first notification through to settlement with a delegated authority up to £25k and up to £100k under referral
  • Managing Household (Domestic and Commercial) claims dealing with all perils including fire, flood, escape of water, storm damage, subsidence, theft, accidental damage, impact etc.
  • Liaise with Policyholders, Clients, Loss Adjusters and Suppliers, recording every aspect of communication on each claims via the proclaim IT management system
  • Review and assess each claim in line with client expectations
  • Support less experienced staff on more complex claims
  • Gather evidence to validate the claims such as receipts, proof of purchase, photographs, third party reports etc.
  • Review and challenge scope/schedule of works
  • Ensure all recovery aspects of claims are monitored
  • Highlight any potentially fraudulent claims
  • Settle claims
  • Escalate any complaints

Applicant Requirements:


About you:


  • Experienced in handling Household/Property Claims through to settlement
  • Able to manage own caseload of claims
  • Experience working in an Insurance or Loss Adjusting Environment
  • A background and experience of all perils including, fire, flood, escape of water, theft, etc.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, targeted, challenging environment
  • Intermediate IT skills and an understanding of claims management systems
  • Industry qualifications or a willingness to work towards.
