About the role
This is a great opportunity to develop your career in local government, within a forward-thinking and inventive Internal Audit team, working within an innovative and supportive County Council.
finance; social care; major infrastructure projects; high-value contracts; and complex partnership and joint working arrangements including the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and NHS partners.
The Internal Audit team also provides advice and consultancy services across the Council, with the aim of adding value and improving organisational governance, risk management and control.
At Cambridgeshire County Council, Internal Audit has a pivotal role in helping the organisation manage risks and is a positive catalyst for change.
The team is based at our newly constructed civic headquarters at New Shire Hall in Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, and operates a hybrid/flexible working policy.
There is the opportunity to work remotely as well as from our central base at New Shire Hall, and some travel is likely to be required to other Cambridgeshire offices and schools.
What will you be doing?As a Senior Auditor, you will have responsibility for managing delivery of your own varied portfolio of work, which may include fraud investigations and risk management in addition to internal audit work.
Our supportive team environment will ensure that you can develop your skills across all areas of audit, through working closely with experienced colleagues.
Your work will provide assurance on the effectiveness of the organisation's risk management, governance, policy and internal control processes, and you will work with audit clients to agree far-reaching improvements and innovations based on your own ideas and recommendations.
Successful applicants will be team players and great communicators, with the desire to think innovatively and strategically about how to improve the way systems and services work, challenge current processes, and work closely with senior management and key stakeholders across the organisation.
Ideally you will also be working towards a recognised professional qualification such as CCAB or IIA.Please note:
