The Maternity Support Worker Clinical Assessor, is an exciting role that will work towards developing our Maternity Support Workers.

The role encompasses the provision of initial training, working clinically alongside MSW's to support them with their competency packages and vocational training.

The role will facilitate the quality of the learning environment ensuring requirements are met.

You will be working as part of a wider midwifery educational team, additionally it is a job share and there will be lots of development and support.

Main duties of the job

  • Key duties and responsibilities:
  • To work in partnership with Lead practice development midwife for MSWs to:
  • Work clinically alongside MSWs to support them with Trust Competency Packages and vocational learning programmes and apprenticeships, adhering to National Standards, best practice principles and Trust policies and procedures
  • Provide a comprehensive assessment service for:
  • Actively contribute to reducing the turnover of MSWs within the Trust
  • Maintain a safe working environment for MSWs and staff
  • Act as a role model to MSWs and staff maintaining a professional image at all times
  • Develop skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the Performance Standards, specific KSF outlines required for the post and Trust policies and procedures
  • Manage the detail of their own workload to ensure training/development requests are efficiently dealt with as well as objectives met

Essential criteria

Vocational Diploma Level 3 (Health Care) or equivalent level of competency

National Skills Qualification - Literacy 2 & Numeracy 2 or equivalent

  • Undertaken BEACH courseExperience
Essential criteria

Evidence of experience of working in an acute healthcare setting as a Band 3 / 4 MSW
