About Standing Together's Housing Team

DAHA is a part of our wider Housing Team at Standing Together, which includes our Whole Housing Approach Team, Housing First and Homeless team, and DAHA.

We work with housing providers across all tenure types to ensure that survivors in any housing circumstances, and with a variety of housing needs, receive an effective, safe, and support response from housing providers, as a part of a wider Coordinated Community Response to domestic abuse.

Purpose of the role

Our influencing work is helping to drive change across the housing sector concerning the housing response to domestic abuse.

The Policy Officer, reporting to the Senior Housing Manager, will be crucial in helping us deepen our policy influencing capacity to support our roll-out of ground-breaking accreditations and projects to improve the housing sector's response to domestic abuse.

We lead the National Housing & Domestic Abuse Policy & Practice Group, Chaired by the Senior Housing Manager, which has been pivotal in influencing Government policy.

Our Partners across the Housing, Domestic Abuse, and Homelessness sectors are crucial to our work and we are rooted in collaboration.

You will be joining the Team at a pivotal moment.

The Renters (Reform) Bill and Victims and Prisoners Bill will be making their way through their final stages in Parliament and a General Election is likely to take place in 2024, providing an opportunity to ensure that STADA's Housing Team's priorities for improving the housing response to domestic abuse are taken forward by the next Government.

The Social Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 consultation is about to be launched and we continue to see the implementation and impact of the Domestic Abuse Act particularly Part 4 on local authorities.

This is, without doubt, a critical time for the housing sector which is facing challenges and changes.

We need to be ahead of policy where it impacts housing so that we can best support our members and represent their views in our influencing work.

This is such an exciting new role for the Housing Team and one that you can foster with the support of the Senior Housing Manager sharing your experience gained expertise and skills to develop our important policy and public affairs work.
