Significant improvements in digital enablement, business intelligence and surveillance, knowledge and information management maturity are being pursued in order to allow the FCA to remain a world leader in financial services regulation and a data driven organisation.


Our ambitious technological change programme is designed to help the FCA regulate the 60,000 financial services firms under its remit and identify and tackle poor conduct.

The Role


Reporting to the Director Intelligence and Digital, the Head of Advanced Analytics will be accountable for managing the delivery of a high profile, challenging and complex technology-enabled business transformation and new enterprise scale intelligence capabilities to agreed standards, timelines and budgets.

The Intelligence and Digital Directorate is a large-scale, agile, fast paced and rapidly evolving portfolio of programmes and projects.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead FCA's Advanced Analytics capabilities, driving success across the full initiative lifecycle from ideation, through experimentation to deployment and value realisation.
  • Lead the operational Advanced Analytics capabilities by developing a failfast, iterative approach to development of use cases and value opportunities to ensure they are quickly proven before being handed over to enterprise solution development teams to scale and implement.
  • Lead and inspire a team of talented data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers, and supporting capabilities by creating a positive team culture where people are supported, empowered and expected to deliver.
  • Leads overall strategy & execution of Advanced Analytics, Data Science & Data Analysis teams for designing innovative solutions to deliver business impact.
  • Contribute to defining the FCA Data Strategy. Collaboration with the FCA Data Strategy team and the wider DTI and Intelligence & Digital Groups.
  • Builds and ensures the deep analytical understanding of functional business areas by partnering with business leaders to understand strategic needs and translate them into deliverables for the team.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, build rapport and proactively elevate their data value proposition and its delivery
  • Support the development of a Dataled culture in the wider FCA through the delivery of targeted initiatives and effective communication on the value being delivered by Data Science Projects
  • Joining the Senior Leadership Team at the FCA during an exciting and challenging time of great change in financial services and its regulation.
  • Leading a directorate of talented and committed people through significant projects whilst also delivering on businessasusual objectives.
Skills and Experience

Minimum

  • Experienced technology delivery leader with a proven track record of successfully managing high value, complex technology, and data change projects in business critical, data rich environments
  • Proven track record of successful delivery in, Agile, Cloud Native, DevOps and Product led technology organisations.
  • Role model strong leadership behaviours in line with the FCA values and
- capabilities

- organisational priorities.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities
Essential

  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary delivery teams, as part of an Advanced Analytics function.
  • Proven track record of delivering material value through data science.
  • Experienced in delivering results in big data, and large matrixed organisations.
  • Strong leadership skills with previous management of large multilocation teams. Coaching, supporting, and developing the whole team as we drive to increase high performance across the FCA.
  • Mixture of strong business acumen, understanding of data, information and intelligence and project delivery skills.
  • Experience of using data to drive digital transformation in varied business environments.
  • Resilience and intellectual curiosity, ability to align activity to business objectives and thrive in a constantly changing environment
