Description

The Nye Family Assessment Resource has been operational for the past 9 months and we are becoming established amongst local authorities.

We provide expert, evidence-based parenting assessments in a safe and supportive environment to the courts and local authorities. The assessments will be undertaken over a period of 12 weeks and can accommodate up to 6 families.

The role of the senior family residential worker entails assisting in the coordination and delivery of parenting support programmes to families where areas of concern have been identified.

Ensuring that shifts run smoothly, and appropriate care, safety, support and guidance are offered to families who are placed at The Nye for assessment.

You will also participate in the wider assessment of each parents' skills and parenting capacity. You will also contribute to the safeguarding and support of child/ren who stay at the Nye.


DUTY'S AND RESONSIBIITIES
Understand and adhere to the Nye Family Assessment Resource Policy and procedures.

To lead shifts working alongside other Team members and other professionals, social workers police, health and education to assist families reach outcomes and expectations as outlined in their personal plans and other plans for permanence.


Contribute to and maintain high level of recording and report writing, keep up to date and accurate monitoring information, records such as logbook and incident reports.


Ensuring that all significant events relating to the Safeguarding of a child/ren residing at the resource are immediately reported to the manager registered with social care Wales or directors' and the appropriate authorities and system supporting the family.

Safeguard parents and children through continued assessment and planning.

Work as part of a team to provide targeted assessments for families.

Engage with families and build professional relationships based on trust

Assist in the provision of daily support and crisis management skills to families.


Support parents to reach their full potential to enable them to care for their child/ren to a "Good Enough" standard.

Be involved in parent child activities that support health attachment and child development.


Assisting or leading (if key worker) in the monitoring and review of each Families progress on a regular basis during their stay in the home, including: -making suggestions and recommendations for amendments to the care plan resulting from any progress or lack of it.

Writing or contributing to the writing of review and progress reports. Attending meetings as and when required.

Provide daily support and crisis management skills to parents.

Attend regular supervision training opportunities and staff meetings.

Provide a good standard of supervision to the Residential family workers.


Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and families in line with Legislation and the Nye policies and procedures.

Always maintain a professional attitude and appropriate appearance whilst on shift.

Work collaboratively with community resources and advocate for parents where necessary.


Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required by the manager to assist in the functioning of the Home or care towards the children at any time, this may involve cooking and cleaning.

To undertake financial duties where appropriate in conjunction with and under the guidance of the manager or directors.


Assist the Registered Manager in providing a Safe and Secure, consistent, warm, supportive and caring environment for the Families by providing the space to explore solutions and pathways identified regarding their ability to effectively and safely parent they child/ children.

Assist the Registered Manager to develop and maintain the Rota and organising shift cover when needed.


Work to high professional standards of care, support, supervision and reflective practice and be accountable for your own continuous professional development.

Ensure compliance of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.


To assist with the supervision of Residential Family Workers in accordance with legislation, regulations and the Nye policies and procedures.


To supervise, guide and advise the staff team in relation to the day to day running of the home and for the delivery of the daily Care and support to the Families.

To assist with the induction and training of new staff in the home. To support the Registered Manager with organising all staff training.

Promote the engagement of staff in accessing training from other services within the Families system and ensuring the implementation of this training into day-to-day practice and intervention with Families.


QUALIFICATIONS
NVQ 3 Caring for Children and Young People and working towards level 4 and or hold an equivalent qualification

GCSE IN Maths and English at c or above.


DESIRABLE
NVQ 4 Care, or the predecessor QCF Diploma Level 3 Health and Social care Children and Young Peo
