Description

The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers high quality and distinctive educational programmes for adult learners, predominantly studying on a part-time basis, for either personal enrichment or professional development.

ICE aims to ensure that the expertise and resources of the University of Cambridge are made available to all students, irrespective of their previous educational achievements.

We wish to appoint a part-time (0.5 FTE) Senior Teaching Associate, on an open-ended basis, to play a central leadership, teaching and course management role in delivering the Master of Studies (MSt) postgraduate degree programme in English Language Assessment.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Programmes, the Senior Teaching Associate will have overall responsibility for students' academic and pastoral experience.

They will work to shape the curriculum of the MSt in English Language Assessment as well as innovative new online Micro masters content, oversee the cross-University course delivery team, liaise with course administrators, interface with Cambridge colleges and coordinate the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the course and ensure the very highest academic quality and professional standards.

The MSt is offered by the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education in partnership with Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Theoretical and Applied Linguistics in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics, and Cambridge Language Sciences Interdisciplinary Research Centre.

The first MSt cohort complete their studies in December 2023, with the second MSt cohort due to start in January 2024, and a third cohort in October 2024.

Please note that there may be scope to increase the FTE fraction or to bring in additional academic resource to support the Senior Teaching Associate role once recruitment to Cohort 3 is confirmed later in 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to make a major contribution by shaping world-leading postgraduate education in this area, led and informed by the expertise of researchers and practitioners from across the University of Cambridge.

The post holder would be expected to be based on-site at Madingley Hall and central Cambridge for a minimum of 40% of their contracted hours, to include residential teaching blocks, course meetings, line management meetings and committee work.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
