OK as our
Assistant Editor


The Assistant Editor will work alongside the Digital Content Director and Deputy Digital Content Director to drive traffic to by helping to work on and implement long-term strategies, while driving and increasing traffic with sparkling editorial.

This role will include editing stories, leading busy shifts in our dynamic digital newsroom, driving traffic through brilliantly written breaking news, conducting exclusive interviews and pitching thought-provoking ideas daily for
OK Magazine Online.


You will have experience in understanding daily/weekly/monthly analytics, managing a team and taking the lead on projects.

You will be very organised and love to forward plan - creating content plans for upcoming events/shows important to the OK Reader.

You will be passionate about celebrities and royals and know your Charlotte Crosbys from your Jenna Ortegas.

Key Responsibilities

What will the role involve?

  • Writing and editing stories
  • Creating content plans for upcoming events
  • Leading shifts and managing news lists, delegating stories to reporters
  • Homepage editing
  • Driving traffic through exciting fresh and exclusive lines and breaking news
  • Filming on camera video content for the social media pages
  • Looking after celebrity columnists, bringing in exclusive ideas and interviews
  • Taking an analytical approach to review content and social media reach
  • Building relationships with high profile celebrities and contacts, ensuring OK can continue to break exclusives

This position will have some weekend working so a flexible approach is required

Who are we looking for?
-
NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree and knowledge of media law:

  • Editing experience within a fast paced digital newsdesk environment
  • Excellent experience interviewing celebrities, with an enviable contact book
  • Strong social media skills, with the confidence to create on camera content
  • Background at a national or fast paced regional news title
  • Knowledge of how to drive traffic via strong exclusive headlines
  • A passion for all things celebrity, TV and a nose for an exclusive scoop
  • Excellent understand of social media and analytics
