  • Job description
    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To maintain evidential property in line with Force Policies, procedures and legislation, ensuring property is retained or managed in the most efficient and effective manner, and accurately recorded on the property system at all times.

Physically manage property both within the Central Store and between property stores.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Complete audits in line with force requirements, investigating and resolving enquiries (i.e. in respect of items for return to owner, orphans, pre Niche, etc), ensuring property is appropriately retained, returned or disposed.


Undertake property picking and preparation for the delivery of property for Forensics, DTT, Case Builders, Soco, E-Forensics & officer requests.

Ensure all Niche tasks are responded to and actioned in accordance with force procedures.


Ensure all stores are maintained, including undertaking action days and moving property as necessary, and liaising with facilities to improve logistics of stores, racking, health and safety, etc.

Inspect ladders, aisles and the MEWP, reporting faults as required.


Complete property disposals in line with force procedures, including returning specified items to relevant agencies & identify items for income generation.


Monitor property processing & compliance, identify training needs, and then coach individuals with a view to them efficiently managing, or reducing property and exhibit holdings.

Report concerns to the Evidential Property team leader for escalation.


Support professional development and training activities for property and exhibit management, including self-development, and contributing innovative ideas for streamlining the management of property, including process reviews to improve property and exhibit storage, handling, transport and disposal.


Act as a point of contact for Property advice and enquiries, and provide collaborative support to force departments and partners, including input for sources of information in respect of property handling, such as Forcenet pages and communications.


Assist departments to produce reports that provide a complete and accurate, organisation wide, view of property holdings for management, run and disseminate to improve oversight and control of property.


Support departments including force IT and Niche teams, with ongoing developments, which address control weaknesses and system limitations, including participation with user groups, and a contribution to system requests for change.


Provide resilience for the Evidential Property Administrators and their activities, also support for the Evidential Property Manager, Evidential Income Generation & Cash officer and Evidential Team Leader, as required.
