Description

A vacancy has arisen for a locum consultant in critical care medicine within the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The clinical commitment is to a busy and progressive adult general critical care unit (L3: 20 beds, L2: 13 beds with over 1600 emergency admissions in addition to elective surgical admissions) currently managed by 20 critical care consultants.

The LUHFT Trust also has a Critical Care Unit on the Aintree Hospitals site, with 23 beds.

The successful applicant must be trained in and be able to demonstrate in-depth experience of Intensive Care Medicine.

Applicants must be on, or within six months of being eligible for, the Specialist Register with accreditation in Intensive Care Medicine.

We have recently moved into a new hospital which is a state-of-the-art facility whose design we have been closely involved with from the outset, with single rooms for all patients.

There are 14 isolation rooms protected by anterooms and filtered air flow. We are a national HCID centre.

The critical care consultants also support a well-established nurse-led Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) which delivers a seven-day service to the hospital.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in clinical audit, clinical governance activities, teaching and consultant appraisal.
