Purpose of the Role


The role is central to the good management and performance of the business, the delivery of excellent customer service, and the safe and efficient operation of Ellgia's vehicle fleet.


Leadership and management of the drivers that report to you is a principal duty and the development of a team ethic, flexibility, and multi-functional capability is essential as we need wider capability across the workforce as drivers need to cover others' duties.


Principal Responsibilities

The role is responsible for:

  • Ensuring Health & Safety remains the number one priority and that we provide a safe workplace for employees. Ensure all safety concerns and near misses are correctly logged, investigated, and appropriate responses actioned.
  • Displaying and promoting Ellgia's values and behaviours to all members of staff at all times.
  • Leadership and good management of staff and ensuring their duties are performed in a comprehensive and professional manner.
  • Foster a customerfocused working environment, with clear responsibilities and expectations for team members, monitor team performance and conduct regular appraisals. Motivate drivers and operatives with the aim of maintaining good attendance and a 'cando' attitude.
  • Manage training and development of team members and ensure team members understand customers' needs and deliver the expected outcomes
  • Ensuring staff are multiskilled and able to cover other roles
  • Ensuring ontime service delivery and effective customer communication.
  • Manage next working day recovery activities and communication of nonservice / missed lifts are communicated to the customer in a timely manner.
  • Ensure new customer requirements are met and effectively routed to improve round efficiency and performance.
  • Efficient planning of collection routes to ensure efficiency and compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Regularly review work processes for areas of improvement and implement as necessary.
  • Report on vehicle performance and productivity as required.
  • Ensure adequate levels of suitable containers are available for new and existing customers.
  • Ensure driver compliance through an effective debrief process, specifically covering tachographs, Purgo system utilisation, overweight vehicles, Working Time Directive, and defect management.
  • Receipt, recording and actioning of customer complaints in a timely manner to the satisfaction of both customer and depot.
  • Robust and timely management of any waste contamination.
  • Provide advice to customers in respect of service and recycling options.
  • Establish and maintain active and constructive relationships with other teams in the organisation including Sales and Key Account Managers.
  • Ensure customer risk assessments are carried out and all legal requirements regarding waste collections are complied with
  • Other tasks reasonably requested

Skills and Competencies
The role requires the following skills and competencies to be demonstrated:
It is essential the applicant has experience in commercial vehicle scheduling and operation, preferably in a waste management environment.


Leadership, Teamwork, Integrity, customer focus, critical thinking and problem-solving, decision making, clear and concise oral and written communications, professionalism and a good work ethic, commercial awareness, good IT skills on Purgo.

Salary:
£30,000.00-£32,550.00 per year
