Operations Planner
What is the key purpose of this role?
Job Purpose
As a member of the Operations Planning team, manage short-term operational and resource planning activities to ensure safe, effective, reliable and cost-efficient delivery of all rail services for nuclear and non-nuclear customers.
What are the key deliverables and accountabilities of the role?
Key accountabilities
- Plan weekly services, based on base plans and diagrams, and customer requirements, ensuring all outputs:
- Are safe, secure and reliable
- Meet customer expectations
- Meet commercial targets
- Comply with national, railway and nuclear mandated regulations and standards
- Collate weekly train plans from Commercial with adhoc loco, wagon and train movement requests from the business to ensure that a combined weekly train plan is produced and issued at the agreed time each week.
- Work closely with strategic planning colleagues to understand all alterations to the WTT train plan and request Short Term Plan (STP) paths as required, based on customer requirements and changing operational demands.
- Collaborate with the Resourcing team to ensure plans are diagrammed, rostered and delivered.
- Attend planning meetings with Commercial colleagues to understand customers' requirements.
- Maintain effective working relationships with the Resourcing and Service Delivery teams, including Traincrew, to ensure smooth creation and delivery of the weekly train plan, roster, and diagrams.
