Serco have an exciting opportunity for an Ammunition Storeperson to join the Logistics team based at the Defence Academy.

As our Ammunition Storeperson, you will be responsible for providing an efficient service for the receipt, issue, and custody of ammunition natures for DA units, both on the Shrivenham Campus and DTUS Squadrons based in Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, and Loughborough.


Serco at the Defence Academy provides Facilities Management across all aspects of the site including Estates, Logistics, various Supporting Services, together with Cleaning, Catering and Waste Management through ESS.


Main responsibilities of the role include:

Maintain the ammunition account and ensure strict compliance with ammunition storage regulations in accordance with JSP 48- MOD Explosive Regulations.

Coordinate the receipt, issue, control, and accounting of all ammunition natures.
Application of approved accounting procedures for the Ammunition Account.
Preparation of ammunition compound bays and natures contained therein for weekly (25%) stock taking checks by the Authority.
Maintain ammunition account transactions on Management of Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI).
Ensure the ammunition and explosives holdings are free from any existing bans and constraints.
Ensure that specialist inspection reports are extant, fire, security, electrical fittings, and light protection system.
Collection and return of ammunition/explosive natures from/to the Ammunition Depot.


What you'll need to do the role:
Management of Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) training or willingness to complete.
MOD Ammunition Storeman Cse or willingness to complete.
Authorised Rep (Road) or willingness to complete.
Military stores experience is desirable.
IT proficient, particularly MS Office products.
Effective communication and customer service skills.
Good organisation skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to prioritise conflicting tasks to meet deadlines.
Must be able to achieve SC Clearance prior to appointment, Serco will arrange this on your behalf.
