Description
To provide a skilled outpatient service and assist, in the management and leadership of
the Outpatient team. There is a requirement to supervise the registered nurses and,
senior health care assistants on a day to day basis, in achieving objectives.

Ensure the provision of the physical and psychological environment which is conductive to providing high standards on nursing care.

  • Ensure professional standards are maintained and takes opportunities to
improve the standard of nursing care provided by the outpatient staff, aiming to develop the quality of service provided to all users

  • Abide by legal requirements and statutory rules relating to NMC codes, scope of practice and local policies.
  • Implement effectively all Trust policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, relatives, carers, all members of
organisation and external agencies

  • Take charge of Department on a day to day basis
  • To promote team working within the department, with a fair and equitable approach
  • To support the role and responsibilities of the department matron in their
absence.

  • To support in the delivery of nurse led clinics or services as required by service need/matron
  • Plan shift rotas and allocate staff to clinical areas maintaining an up to date Health roster system and escalated staffing concerns to matron.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of nursing staff
  • To work extended days and as part of a seven day service as and when required
