£30,000 to £35,000 per annum (pro rata) dependent on experience 20-30 hours - 18 month Fixed Term Contract South East London Workforce Development Hub (BETH&SELTH) Information The SEL Workforce Development Hub is the training hub for South East London working collaboratively with the six borough hubs to provide training, education and other support to Primary Care. We support over 200 practices and 36 PCNs. Organisational Values / Objectives SEL Workforce Development Hubs goals are to support primary care to bethe best place to work and the best place to learn. We work with practices and PCNs to develop new ways of working to support their priorities, their staffs priorities, and their patients priorities.


The Student Education Facilitator (SEF) within South East London Workforce Development Hub, will have a key role in supporting the SEL Practice Education team, who are working to increase the number and quality of pre-registration student nurse placements across ICS.

Working with individual Pre-registration Students, GP practices, our partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and our ICB-approved Assessors and Supervisors, the SEF will provide weekly educational sessions via technological platforms to pre-registration students on clinical placements.

The SEF will be responsible for the organising, coordination and delivery of the educational sessions focusing on reducing the theory/practice gap within Primary Care, the management of Long-Term Conditions (LTCs) and health promotion.

The SEF will also support and deliver some education sessions for trainee HCAs.

Duties and Responsibilities Duties will vary depending on the student on a placement year.

To work with General Practice, our HEI partners and student nurses (groups or individuals) to support pre-reg students in Primary Care.

To write, plan and offer one 3-hour weekly education sessions possibly in the key.

Education sessions to be agreed with the Practice Education team but will consist of Long-Term Conditions (LTCs) and public health concerns.

To promote this role and purpose across the ICS to Assessors, Supervisors, Primary Care and our HEI partners.

Working with the Placement Coordinator to identify all student nurses on clinical placements in Primary Care at any given point.

To support and troubleshoot any pre
- reg student placement issues as they arise. To support the Practice Education Team and placements within the Primary Care Network Communications & Relationships Able to provide and receive complex/sensitive information to all levels of the organisation and partners/stakeholders.


KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Practice Educators SELWDH Placement Coordinator SELWDH Practice Supervisors, Practice Assessors and Academic Assessors South East London GPN Preceptorship Leads Primary Care Nurse Leads from each SEL Borough Chief Nurses, Training Hubs and Training Coordinators from the six boroughs within the SEL (Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lewisham, Lambeth & Southwark).

General Practice (GP): Practice Managers and GP Partners Clinical Directors from each of the SEL Primary Care Networks (PCN) Financial and Physical Resources There are no financial or physical resource management issues related to this post Staff Management and leadership The post holder will not have staff management within their remit but will provide leadership role modelling to the pre-registration students on placement Policy and Service Development The post holder will develop policies and protocols related to their own area or work and suggest recommendations for service delivery.

Planning and Organisational skills The post holder will work autonomously developing support tools, training packages for pre-registration student nurses and deliver annual Practice Assessor/Supervisor updates to SEL GPNs.

Information management/resources including any databases used / IM&T responsibilities The post holder will use SELWDH Share Point creating their own dataset and educational portfolio for pre-registration student nurses.


The post holder will need to amend and update SEL practice, assessor and supervisor databases as needed Project management None Personal/Professional Development Participate in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintain a record of own personal and/or professional development Participate in any training programme implemented by the management team Effectively manage own time, workload and resources Assess own performance and development and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.

Communication Demonstrate interpersonal skills when dealing with all levels of staff across SELWDH using persuasion, tact and reassurance where necessary.
