Production Operative - Build shop


Location:
Paneltex Somers, Long Stratton


Hours of work:40 hours per week - Monday-Friday


Salary:
£10.75 per hour

Job Overview


The scope of the role is to cut and install foam insulated panels into vans and then prepare the vehicle for the next stage of the process.

Working from the cutting list and the job specification, you will work out the required size and shape of each piece and then as required cut rebates, slots, grooves etc.

into the foam sheets and ensure these will all fit together to make a whole panel conversion. This kit will then be securely installed within the vehicle. The role involves use of jigsaws, routers, saws, drills, woodworking machinery, grinders etc.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare the van for panel install, including stripping out, masking and minor wiring
  • Install rockwool or foam panels into the van body
  • Carve and shape foam panels to the contours of panel vans prior to fitment
  • Fit panels into vans using gun foam and other fixing methods
  • Build wheel boxes and other customers' requirements into the van using MDF or ply wood
  • Grind and seal the van prior to the next process
  • Support the development of the next phase in Somers conversions, with CNC machining
  • Be familiar with the company's Health and Safety Policies and in particular with your responsibilities
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, included in the company handbook
  • Maintain a clean working area through 5S activities
  • Perform periodic checks on equipment (TPM)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience and proficient in the use of handheld power tools
  • Would suit operator with previous metalworking, woodworking, carpentry or construction experience
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Practical with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • High work ethic & team player
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety
  • Punctual & reliable
  • Flexible approach to overtime
  • Driving licence would be preferred
