Description

The role of a Trainee/Assistant Estimator would be to work alongside the estimating team to obtain understanding and knowledge of how estimates are prepared, documentation that forms a tender enquiry, how projects costs are built through to final tender submission.

This role will be based in our Carnforth office.

Responsibilities:

Gain a full understanding of the tender process and tender documentation.
Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required
Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment
Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers
Identify potential costsaving opportunities and value engineering options
Create detailed takeoffs and quantity surveys
Prepare and submit bid proposals in a timely manner
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and related documentation

Skills:

Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Excellent attention to detail
A high level of IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft Excel
Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
Time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
Problemsolving abilities to identify solutions for cost control
Willingness to learn and an enthusiasm to develop and progress
