Description

The post holder shall need to be sufficiently competent to carry out a wide range of general Carpentry works to various Council sites, including domestic dwellings, communal areas, Sheltered Housing Schemes.

As a minimum the post holder must be able toundertake the following activities to a consistently satisfactory standard;

  • Maintenance to existing fire doors
  • Doors / frames incorrectly fitted or damaged
  • Doors not engaging
  • Incorrect / insufficient fire stopping between door frames and structural opening. (Behind architraves).
  • Faulty door closers
  • Damaged fire seals
  • Glazing not to specification
  • Remove/refix and install new internal and external doors and windows (timber and UPVC)
  • Replace timber floors and structural timbers
  • Install/repair garage doors (timber and steel)
  • General carpentry works appropriate to NVQ Level
  • Required to install new fire door sets and carry out fire door maintenance to third party certification standards (FIRAS).
  • All craft post holders are required to undertake a range of multi skilling, in order to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The position of 'carpenter' will also be regularly required to undertake;
  • Plaster patching patching to areas of work, e.g. preparation for glazed wall tiling, and making good where required.
  • Brickwork make good to holes in brickwork, make good flooring, point up lead works, making good where required, glazed and floor tiling.
