Description
Effectively manage and coordinating all clinical and non-clinical risk activity within the maternity (including community midwifery) and Gynaecology services to ensure reduction of risk and compliance with Trust Risk Management Framework

  • Facilitate and promote clinical governance and risk within the maternity and gynaecology
  • To be responsible for the implementation of aspects of governance and risk management to ensure highest standards of patient and staff safety within maternity and
  • To liaise with the multiprofessional team to ensure identification and reduction of risks within the division through effective risk assessment, detailed action planning and monitoring.
  • To liaise with local risk leads to ensure all incidents have been reviewed and closed with identified learning
  • Develop and deliver education and training packages in line with the Trust Risk Management framework for all levels of staff within the directorate with regard to the risk management
  • To promote the ethos associated with being open, Duty of Candour legislation and transparency following review of
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain health and safety within the Division providing a resource for advice to all members of staff.

  • Knowledge and experience of quality, risk management and clinical governance processes with an ability to challenge and question clinical practice of all members of the multiprofessional team.
  • Midwife/Nurse Lead involved in change management such as the implementation of a change in practice in response to national or local guidance or the planning and implementation of change in response to user comments/needs.
  • To support the Corporate Risk team with the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Framework.
  • Implementation of Clinical Governance including research, audit, and quality improvement.
  • Ability to analyse and rigorously review all aspects of the governance framework, interpreting information and using knowledge and judgement to provide highly specialist advice to recommend modifications where necessary and produce meaningful reports.
  • To demonstrate an ability to teach, holding a nationally recognised teaching/training qualification with excellent presentation skills and ability to present data and information in a userfriendly format.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of professionals fostering collaboration and a participatory approach.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously, prioritising own workload with selfdirection and excellent time management skills.
  • To respond to and achieve challenging deadlines which change rapidly on a daily and weekly basis and requires a substantial degree of flexibility.
