Reporting to our Global Head of Finance Shared Services and part of the Global Finance Operations organization, this role is comprised of the following key areas of responsibility:

  • Site leader for the Glasgow Finance teams
  • Manager for the Controllership services provide by the Finance Operations teams located in Glasgow as well as in other global locations
We have ~70 finance staff in Glasgow across Finance Operations, Credit Control, Tax, Planning & Analysis and project support. The Finance Operations team includes ~35 staff in Glasgow and ~100 in our offshore shared services team.

The Finance Operations team provides services to the EMEA, Latin American, Asia Pacific, North America, and Chubb Life areas of our company and therefore partner management, including executive engagement is an important element of this role.

The Glasgow team is comprised of high performers and SMEs.

A key part of the role is to build a people focused cohesive culture and optimise the operating model and organization on an ongoing basis, with appropriate investment of time in people development.

Some travel may be required on limited occasions depending on business requirements.


Other Key responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for Glasgow Finance dept and teams
  • Develop a unified work culture for the Finance teams; act as the go to resource for any support needed by Finance team members
  • Coordinate recruiting, career development and performance management processes
  • Delivery of financial accounting tasks ensuring proper level of review and due diligence over accounting practices and controls.
  • Maintain high standard of balance sheet management through continuous analytics and policing.
  • Overall responsibility for intercompany tasks such as distribution of debit and credit note, reconciliations, and clearance of out of balances.
  • Provide a critical viewpoint and challenge over the accounting transactions and financial documents.
  • Ensure all members of the team, both onshore and offshore, understand their role, manage the expectations of all business partners and ensure there is continued communication.
  • Remediate any reduction in services that have been raised and lead operational review meetings
  • Lead teams to provide the best possible service and provide a positive and inclusive leadership style that empowers team members to make good decisions and judgements independently
  • Form a close relationship with management in the BPO partner to ensure an integrated team approach across teams and take overall responsibility to ensure that the offshore team delivers on their metrics and SLAs
  • Manage all internal and external audit interaction as applicable to services delivered with timely signoff and reporting for SOX controls.
  • Experience in leading and growing large teams; ideally in a shared service or site leadership role
  • Extensive experience of insurance operations preferred
  • Extensive experience in managing and delivering financial reporting and operational finance processing with strong recent technical knowledge of US GAAP
  • Demonstrable experience with outsourcing or change management and experience of delivering change
