Are you a buyer with experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment? If so, this role could be for you

37 hours per week:


Monday - Thursday - 8am to 4:30pm

Friday 8am to 1pm


The objective of this role is to control the daily activity relating to the purchase of raw materials, equipment and services in accordance with Company procedures, objectives and to follow best practice guidelines.

This relates specifically to purchasing goods, raw materials and services to ensure that the Company operational needs are achieved, being cognisance of price, quality and On Time Delivery to ensure continuity of supply.


Responsibilities:


  • Acquire goods, raw materials, components and services in conjunction with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Support the Procurement function and other relevant internal stakeholders, communicating any supply issues which may impact on the business operations.
  • Act as an interface between pertinent suppliers and other relevant internal businesses, communicating any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
  • As a consequence of daily activity and where able, monitor and articulate on market trends, competitor strategies and suppliers.
  • Where appropriate, provide an analysis on 3rd party costs and review cost reduction activities.
  • Prepare Procurement based reports and updates as required.
  • Liaise with fellow Procurement personnel and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business successes.
  • Where practicable, improve terms of business with 3rd party marketplace.
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders.
  • Initiate, maintain and manage supplier relationships and champion excellent supplier communication channels.
  • Ensure compliance with Company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during direct supplier activity.
  • As requested, conduct research into new supply areas.
  • Compile data relating to supplier performance.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, and invoice misunderstandings.

  • The ability to construct and maintain effective and productive relationships with supplier base, stakeholders, and Procurement staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong problemsolving abilities.
  • The ability to manage time effectively, prioritise workload and to achieve agreed targets.
  • A commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how supplier failure impacts production, manufacture, and customer order fulfilment.
  • Able to work, to a high standard, under pressure and to handle emergency and stressful situations.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Person Specification:


  • Possess significant oral and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy solid mathematical skills including the ability to analyse and assess information.
  • Good organisational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Confident at Negotiating contracts with suppliers

Qualifications/Experience:


  • Relevant experience of working in a Supply Chain team preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification (or an undertake to study towards.)
  • Significant knowledge of procurement, a commercial understanding, and a cost breakdown.
  • Computer literate.
  • Supervisory Management

Any other Duties:


  • In the absence of the Supply Chain Manager, become the deputy for all 3 sites
  • Any other duties reasonably associated with your job title

Salary:
£32,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
