The Isle of Wight CCAMHS Eating Disorder Team is expanding and we are looking to recruit a part time Family Therapist to work within the IOW CCAMHS Team for 30 hours per week.


We are looking for an experienced family therapist to work within the CAMHS team who has experience of working with children and young people with eating disorders.

This is new role within the team and you will part of a MDT team made up of nurses, social workers, family therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and support workers.

The post holder will provide evidenced based systemic family therapy to a range of CYP, under CAMHS with varying degrees of need.

You will provide active and effective supervision to junior family therapy staff members. The post holder will receive clinical, managerial and caseload supervision, as part of their remit. The post holder will complete documentation to Trust standards.


To provide high quality systemic family therapy treatment, in conjunction with other professionals and work in partnership with other agencies to provide seamless, flexible services, which meets the systemic family focused service user and carer needs.

To provide evidence-based assessments and treatments within a variety of settings for children, young people and families who experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, that require family therapy intervention within CAMHS.

To provide specialist family therapy assessments and interventions on a time limited basis.

To provide systemic family plans and utilise theory, knowledge and practice based on a conceptual framework using evidence-based practice.

Make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options available, considering the highly complex family relationship factors.

To work in ways that are sensitive to the needs of people of diverse, racial. cultural, religious backgrounds and different lifestyles particularly those who find change difficult.


To provide advice and support from a systemic family therapy approach to colleagues across all agencies involved in the care of children, young people, their families/carers.

To identify and manage risk, including safeguarding, providing care plans which are regularly reviewed.

To act as a lead clinician for a family therapy case load.

To work jointly and collaboratively with other team members and colleagues in other agencies.

Provide high quality and timely clinical record keeping.

To chair multi agency/disciplinary meetings as required.

To offer clinical family therapy supervision to junior family therapy staff.

Carrying our appraisals, for supervised staff members, as directed by the manager.

Dealing with specific complaints, concerns and compliments regarding the family therapy case load and waiting list.

Provide activity data on a regular basis.

Contribute to outcome monitoring for individuals and the service.

To take part in the team duty rota.

To line manage junior staff as required.

To take an active role in Audit, research, and Service Development.

To receive supervision.
