Out client is a well-respected privately owned business operating within the House Building / Property Development Industry across Central England.


Whilst a small but successful business with an output of around units P/A FRS have been engaged to assist with the appointment of a Finance Director to join the business at this key stage of growth and strategic planning.


This role will partner closely with the MD and Chairman playing a key role in both the financial management and strategic planning of the business.


As part of the companies continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of an experienced Finance Director to join the business at this key time.


  • Working with Board and external advisers around the financial and commercial management of the business and long term plans
  • Oversee design, implementation and management of 5 year strategic planning model
  • Regular review and presentation to Board and investors with scenario planning
  • Annual budget process linking to 5 year Strategic plan with monthly updates
  • Responsible for driving operational consistency between commercial and construction functions
  • Introduction of improved cost saving measures saving including project reporting, materials control and Variation Orders
  • Management of relationships with external auditors, bankers, government funding body, lawyers, investors, insurance brokers and HMRC.
  • Main Board responsibility for sales and commercial functions
  • Regular reporting of project metrics and company financials to external funders and investors
  • Management of project financial draw down process through close liaison with external surveyors ensuring maximum cash recovery
  • Implementation of best practice corporate governance and risk management
  • Management of banking relationships and discussions with alternative debt providers
  • Liaison with key suppliers and subcontractors with particular emphasis on cash
  • Review of current finance systems with program to bring in COINS and reporting tools to enable staged expansion.
  • Staff Development, mentoring and motivation
  • Company Secretarial responsibility


A high level of commercial awareness is key to this position, with being a smaller house builder this position will have broad exposure outside of finance working closely with the chairman and MD around Operational, Commercial and Strategic matters.
