WHAT TO EXPECT


This role will be focused on material technologies, commodity strategies and will work flexible on short term projects and placements across the colour and material house of brands for JLR, primarily focusing on the enhancement of our Ranger Rover vehicles.

You shall have the lead responsibility for designing and developing colour and materials for assigned JLR Core and SV programmes.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED


As a Design Lead, you will research changing landscapes, consumer insights and competitor benchmarking for current market insights for our next generation of JLR vehicles.

You shall continue to help create vehicle line material strategies for future implementation.

You will design, develop, and implement new colour and material proposals for concept vehicles and design vision properties, presenting these ideas to key stakeholders.

Leading project builds and developmental related colour and material design, you shall collaborate and work closely with both interior and exterior teams.


Co-ordinating and collaborating with external suppliers and growing the JLR network for material innovation within the colour and materials team will be essential.

You will translate material concepts from 2D to 3D product, supporting and managing the production of components to specification.

You shall identify consistency issues whilst undertaking any root cause analysis to solve problems, sharing best practice with the team and offering direction as appropriate, delegating for the manager as and when required.

You will lead on assigned projects that will tend to focus on commodity strategies/material technologies and short-term brand colour and material project briefs, acting as a source of expertise, you will mentor and coach Design process & methods to the wider team.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:


Essential:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proven creative and presentation skills, including advanced use of Photoshop and Illustrator software and ability to use internet resources appropriately for research purposes.
  • Passion for Colour and Material Technology and Design as evidenced by up to date in field literature, innovations, and Trends.
  • Proven ability to plan and undertake projects to a strict deadline.
