Thorpe Park, Leeds / Hybrid Home Working

12 month fixed term contract

Salary up to £40,000 (dependent upon experience)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Specialist on a 12 month fixed term contract.


Procurement Category Specialist Role.


We are looking for a proactive Procurement Category Specialist, the role purpose is to support the implementation of category or commodity strategies to optimise business efficiency, executing elements of the overall category strategy to ensure service delivery improvements whilst supporting category management including all aspects of strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and risk management.

Working with Category Business Owners and wider Stakeholders in understanding the category spend and identifying opportunities to increase quality and improve value for money.

Perform procurement reporting and analysis of management information to identify potential improvement opportunities, identifying innovative procurement solutions that provide savings and process efficiencies for the business.


Throughout the Procurement phase and beyond, address vendor issues to ensure the highest level of service delivery and maintain contractual and business relationships throughout.

Facilitate implementa-tion of procurement change initiatives within the category to improve business performance.

Deliver best procurement practice to the wider business departments, whilst maintaining up to date knowledge of supply markets, industry, competitors, product/service innovations and procurement regulations and implement change where necessary.


Skills and Experience

  • Commercial and procurement experience involving highvalue and/or highrisk categories within a large complex organisation as well as commercial and procurement management skills with a proven record of successfully delivering all aspects of organisationalwide procurement activities through to completion, including implementation and change management where required
  • Good supplier relationship management and consulting skills, including the ability to interact, influence and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders within and outside the business
  • Interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to prepare professional reports, stage summaries for business approvals and provide authoritative advice, and effectively communicate complex information to Senior members in a clear and succinct manner
  • Ability to define and manage areas of spend to develop, implement and realise sustainable financial benefits and outcomes through procurement activities
  • Consulting and negotiation skills with the ability to deliver high value and highquality initiatives and strategies that align to business objectives and excellent planning and organisational skills, with experience of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Analytical, evaluation and research skills including demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and information and deliver positive, innovative solutions

Qualifications/STCs

  • Qualification aligned to Commercial / Supply Chain / Procurement activities (CIPS preferred) or relevant experience
