Job Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic motivated individual to join an established pre-construction team. This role will provide crucial support to the Integral building engineering services business.
The main purpose of this role is to produce robust and accurate prime cost in a timely manner, in line with client requirements and Integral company procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of material take offs and liaison with the supply chain to quantify requirements of each tender.
- Preparation of project specific preliminary costs for a variety of project sectors and programmes.
- Requires rudimentary design knowledge of pipework and ventilation duct systems along with understanding a variety of installation techniques.
- An understanding of alternative solutions to specified systems, enabling true value engineering options to be applied were possible.
- An ability to understand, scrutinize and verify specialist supplier and subcontractor quotations for compliancy.
- Ensure tenders are prepared to a high standard and meet the client's deadlines.
- Liaising with other members of the estimating and commercial teams to assess and mitigate project particular risks.
- Produce prime cost detail using our established IT database (Amtech/Estimation) in a suitable format for tender settlement and formal submission.
- Develop working relationships with design consultants, main contractors and clients to establish appropriate communication paths and obtain feedback on submissions.
- Offer mentoring and training to the less experienced members of the team.
- Utilise company procedures to ensure our tender offering is suitable to meet both our requirements and those of the client.
- Undertake site visits and surveys where required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements
- 23 years' experience as a Mechanical Estimator is desirable working in Building Services within a true multi services contractor environment.
- Clear understanding of commercial tendering process and associated activities
- You will need to have time served qualifications in the electrical services construction industry
- Ambitious and enthusiastic towards their career and projects
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Well organized with a high attention to detail
- Analytical skills able to review data
- Able to work to tight and strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with wide range of people
- A full and clean driving licence.
- Excellent oral and written English
- To remain calm under pressure
- Able to manage numerous projects concurrently
- Strong Microsoft Excel/Word skills
