Building Community Advocacy (BCA) provides independent advocacy support to people with mental ill health; we promote equality, challenge unfairness, and give disadvantaged and vulnerable people access to high quality advocacy services ensuring their voices are heard.

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Advocate to join our team.

This post is based within Reaside Clinic in Rubery however, the post holder will be expected to cover various sites within the Secure and Complex Care programme which may also include FCAMS (Forensic Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service).


As part of the role you will:

  • Provide high standards of support and representation in a variety of settings and forums
  • Assist service users in expressing their views and maximising choices that respects the individual's wishes in decisionmaking.

To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Already hold the National Advocacy Qualification including the specialist module 306 (Independent Mental Health Advocacy).
  • Or will be able to able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of Advocacy interventions, Mental Health issues and of the needs of service users residing in Secure and Complex Care along with a commitment to work towards this advocacy qualification you will be considered.
