Head of Technical Dept.
Reports to:

Technical Manager, QA Coordinator, Hygiene Team Leader
Role purpose:
Overall responsibility for managing the Technical Team to ensure that all products manufactured by the Company meet Food safety, quality, authenticity and legal requirements.
This will be achieved by helping to monitor and maintain the Company and the customer's quality assurance system requirements, food safety audits and HACCP.
Maintain, implement and develop new Food Safety & Quality Management systems where relevant.Manage customer and 3rd Party Technical site audits.
Ensure the technical and legal compliance of suppliers and the allergen integrity of raw materials and finished products.
To ensure all raw material, packaging and finished product specifications are updated and maintained to ensure compliance with relevant safety and legislative requirements.
Overall responsibility for the QA Department to ensure all QA standards for manufacturing processes, equipment, operators and finished product is maintained and higher standards driven to achieve a best- in-class product and operation.
Overall responsibility for the Hygiene Team (day shift and evening shift) to ensure that Hygiene standards are driven and maintained to achieve best-in-class standard.
Overall responsibility for BOP packaging approval process.Responsibilities & accountabilities:
List of key tasks and responsibilities for food safety, quality, authenticity and legality
Overall responsibility for contribution to the Technical KPI's, to include:
- Maintain uncompromising Food Safety and Food Quality Standards to Company Policies and
- Manage the Milk and Gluten allergen testing for positive release of Raw Materials and Finished
- Environmental, Water, micro, chemical, allergen and nutritional sampling
- Manage effective routine traceability exercises and coordinate mock recall exercises.
- Manage approval process of Brandbank requirements.
- Manage Routine equipment calibrations probes, scales, metal detectors etc
- Overall responsibility for internal systems audits.
- Overall responsibility for GMP Audits, monitoring, investigation etc.
- Overall responsibility for the effective management of the Crisis Management Team and its policy and procedures
- Overall responsibility to ensure all finished product specifications are kept uptodate, accurate, legal for branded and Own Label products.
- Overall responsibility for all site Process Control documentation to ensure its relevant, effective, and filed in a disciplined and orderly way.
- Overall responsibility for the effective management of the Supplier Approval process (SAQ and
- Manage Supplier site audits to ensure technical compliance as verification for paperbased SAQ
- Manage HACCP/TACCP/VACCP assessments within agreed frequency.
- Provide resource from within the Technical Team to support Product Development Team with approval of proposed new raw material, new suppliers, Nutritional calculations, draft specifications, QAS, Factory Trials, First Productions, and any relevant advice on legality for products and processes.
- Achieve highest results for Customer and Accreditation bodies Audits (BRC, Kosher, AOECS, EHO etc)
- Present Monthly KPI's to Management Team
- Manage Customer Complaint monitoring, Investigation, reporting and response.
- Manage Nonconformance policy and process
- Overall Management of relevant SOP
- Overall Management of food safety training within employee skills matrix

Experience & qualifications:
A firm grasp of manufacturing processes to set safety and quality standards.
Industry relevant training - Food Safety, HACCP Analysis, Internal Audits, Allergen Risk Management,
Legal Labelling, Root Cause Analysis, TACCP analysis, VACCP Analysis
BRCGS V9 competency.
Masters in Food Science.
UK Food Labelling legislation competency.
Salary:
From £50,000.00 per year
