Overview:


First Military Executive Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager on behalf of one of our nationally recognised clients.

The role will be to effectively and professionally lead day to day design and construction management of significant elements on a DFE project, including procurement, installation and commissioning.

Delivering within budget and programme to the satisfactionof the client, users and local community. (Value of up to £50m).


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Familiarise and understand the contract programme and the mode and method strategy.
  • Represent the company at meetings, promote the correct company image and ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities in this area.
  • Lead the management of design consultants to ensure information is provided to suit the procurement strategy, manage the production of working drawings by trade contractors within the given timeframes.
  • Ensure that all work methods are sufficient to meet the project's needs.
  • Oversee all works of the trade contractors, contributing to the selection of key specialists, suppliers, productions including the production of working drawings, procurement and prefabrication and performance on site.
  • Develop clear, detailed and practical measures of performance to meet project objectives.
  • Implement a good communications strategy within the project to ensure that all team members are regularly briefed and provide regular written reports to monitor performance, risk and opportunity management and highlight issues at an early stage.
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Manager, lead, instigate and manage the risk and opportunity procedures.
  • Lead the management of design consultants to ensure information is provided to suit the budget and procurement strategy, manage the production of working drawings by trade contractors within the given timeframes.
  • Ensure design solutions offered by designers and trade contractors fully comply with the project documentation within the given timeframes.
Add value to the design development process by challenging solutions and methods.

  • Be aware of monthly figures, taking proactive action to prevent losses and maximise profitability.
  • Lead the commercial control of trade contractors.
  • In conjunction with the commercial lead, ensure contractual and claim correspondence is suitable actioned within agreed timeframes.
  • Undertake line management responsibilities for direct report staff ensuring each is effectively managed, had a current performance review and learning plan and are able to carry out duties as assigned to them.
  • Assign clear accountabilities to members of the department and help others understand and achieve their responsibilities.
  • Promote and lead the site safety culture.
  • Ensure that all works are carried out in a planned controlled and safe manner, in accordance with statutory regulations, current standards and the companies H, S, E and Quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with project documentations (such as PEP and KPI's) and company documentation.
  • Maintain all records, including diaries, letters, e mails, notices, drawings site records, and computer data.
  • Maintain all archived materials.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Demonstrable experience as a Project Manager.
  • A background working on DfE / Education projects is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of materials, specification and industry working practices.
  • Educated to HNC level of equivalent essential.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate will be required.
