Sustainable Finance is a rapidly growing field that focuses on integrating environmental, social and governance considerations into financial decision making with the aim of promoting long-term sustainable development and mitigating the negative impacts of economic activity on the environment, society and economy.
Barclays' Corporate and Investment Bank is uniquely positioned to develop a market leading sustainable finance franchise through the delivery of a full suite of products, solutions and expertise to our clients as they navigate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The primary responsibility of the Head of Sustainable Finance Program Execution is to oversee and manage the implementation of multiple projects that are key to Barclays ambition to deliver USD 1trillion in sustainable and transition finance and a market leading sustainable finance franchise.
Key Accountabilities
Leading teams of colleagues focusing on the industrialisation of Sustainable Finance origination and other critical projects, including:
- Rollout of new businesses such as Carbon Markets
- Developing client content replication/knowledge library
- Managing Sustainable Finance framework generation for clients
- Supporting Sustainable Finance product development and review including the navigation of Barclays' governance process to launch products to market
- Leading training content development and cohort management based on market updates and trends and working in partnership with the relevant teams,
- Enhancing Greenwashing governance, working alongside relevant colleagues
- Supporting the development of an ESG and Sustainable Finance data management strategy
- Drive performance development expectations and contribute to the development of individual employees
- Incorporate team building as an active part of business strategy
- Support Sustainable Finance leadership and be an advocate of training and mentorship
- Support the building of a working culture that is conducive to promoting a positive work environment
- Act as a trusted advisor across different group of stakeholders, supporting the sustainable finance agenda and the overall education and awareness of stakeholders
- Develop innovative and bespoke solutions for Barclays' clients
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
- Seasoned business leader and change driver with a passion for Sustainable Finance
- Experience of Sustainable Finance or ESG products, regulations and transactions
- Demonstrate assertiveness and the ability to communicate with others in a manner that promotes mutual understanding
- A success trackrecord of implementing change in a large organisation,
- Highly organized and analytical
- Strong communication skills
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Seasoned business leader and change driver with a passion for Sustainable Finance
- Experience in programme management
- Experience working in a matrix organisation, showing confidence managing their own team whilst leveraging broader business resources through partnership and influence
- Ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, organisations and clients
- High degree of personal drive with the motivation to succeed
- Strong team player with first class management and leadership skills
- Highly developed written and verbal communication; strong drive and an ability to influence at senior levels
