Description

To take part in a comprehensive courier service to General Practitioners, patients, Health Centres and other hospitals as directed by the Senior Transport Driver.

To complete daily routine deliveries/collections, plus any ad hoc additions as given. To plan most efficient daily to complete all deliveries/collections required. To load, accept responsibility for and deliver mail, specimens, parcels, medicines etc.

as required by customers. To transport bonafide passengers only as covered by Trust Policy and Insurance. To maintain the vehicles in a clean, tidy condition at all times. To report defects as they occur to enable the Senior Transport Driver to take appropriate action.


To carry out daily and weekly checks on your vehicle in accordance with the Drivers Handbook issued by the Trust to ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy at all times.

To complete and maintain a Log Sheet to account for all mileage, fuel, oil etc. in accordance with the current policy for the Trust.

To sign all entries on the Log Sheet as proof that you have completed the details and runs as recorded.

NB. The Log Sheet is an accountable and audited document and must be safeguarded against loss.

To undertake additional driving duties as delegated by the Deputy Transport and Warehouse Manager within your experience and grade, including the collection of clinical waste from Trust premises.

To complete all paperwork associated with the collection or delivery of goods and confidential items.

To provide a high level of customer care when dealing with patients, visitors and staff. To sign for and carry controlled drugs, and to carry expensive theatre instruments. To deliver and collect loaded Sterile Services trolleys around the site. If you hold a licence, to drive a fork lift truck, and 7.5 tonne vehicles as and when required.


To participate in a system to ensure that the necessary cover is provided during periods of sickness, annual leave etc.

To wear uniform as issued and maintain appearance at a standard commensurate with duties and role in accordance with the Trust Uniform Policy.

To attend mandatory training and any other training deemed necessary for the post holder to carry out their duties. To wear an ID badge as issued in the interests of security in accordance with the Trust policy.

To comply with Statutory and Health Authority Policies on Health & Safety Regulations and Governance.
