Specialist Support Tutor
Beacon Support Ltd. are recruiting Specialist Support Tutors to work with Higher Education students. The position offers flexible hours to work around you, whilst helping to make a difference to students' educational experiences.

We have students with sensory impairment who require one to one support with their higher education studies.

Tutors work with an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and act as facilitators to help students develop learning strategies that will improve their study skills and enable them to become independent learners.


Requirements:

They should hold a teaching qualification from the following:

  • Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA)
  • Certificate of Education (Cert Ed)
  • Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA) Level
  • DTTLS (Diploma in teaching in the lifelong learning sector)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE/PgCert.
ED)

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Primary Education
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Post Primary education
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP)
  • Postgraduate Certificates in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS)
  • Diploma in Education & Training (DET)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (PGCTLHE)
Qualification as an Advisory Teacher for Students with Vision Impairments or Multi-Sensory Impairments would be beneficial.

  • Applicants must be willing to meet with students on a facetoface basis if this is a request for their support provision._

  • Accurate spelling and grammar skills
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to maintain a confidential and professional working relationship
This is a fixed term/rolling contract.
