  • We are seeking professional and wellmotivated individuals to work within the Revenues & Benefits Department as a Benefits Officer who can provide a high standard of service for the Council. If you are proactive and flexible, then this opportunity is for you.
  • As a Benefits Officer, you will have the ability to recognise complex cases and liaise with the appropriate Specialist for guidance.
The following experience in Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support is essential to this role:

  • Possess a good standard of knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support regulations and legislation.
  • You must have recent experience in processing Housing Benefit/Council Tax Support claims.
  • Ability to accurately process basic changes of circumstances and new claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.
  • To be able to deal efficiently with any customer enquiries both over the phone and face to face.


This post will involve contact with the public both in person and on the telephone to help solve their queries.

It is essential that you are able to work as part of a team working under pressure to tight deadlines.- You will use computer based information systems for managing customer enquiries therefore proven ICT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly is essential in this role.

This is a busy working environment so you will need to be resilient, adaptable and enjoy being part of a great team.
