Treasury Controller

£60,000 - £75,000 Per annum + company car allowance
The role will be office based in Swindon. There will be UK travel to attend meetings and periodic trips to Tech Mahindra in Noida.


About the role
The Treasury Controller plays a critical role in heading up the centralised Treasury function.

  • Lead and motivate the offshore Treasury team
  • Effectively manage cash position optimising the group funding position
  • Provide relevant and accurate Treasury reporting
  • Compliance to Treasury policy and controls in place
  • Coordinate direct cash forecasts across the group to provide both daily cleared balances and also forecasting free cash flow to enable achievement of internal free cash/net debt targets
  • Delivering adhoc projects within Treasury and the wider Finance function
  • Ensure compliance with loan covenants, including any reporting requirements
  • Manage relationships with our key banking partners
  • Ensure all banking systems and supporting processes are maintained effectively with relevant system administration controls in place
  • Manage mandate compliance including new account opening and changes to bank accounts
  • Provide headroom reporting and analysis to feed into management reporting
  • Manage and motivate a team of 5 to ensure that all transactional activities relating to the company's banking activities operate effectively
  • Manage any treasury policy updates ensuring relevant updates to procedures and follow up on any Treasury audit action points
  • Undertake any change projects within the Treasury area and also provide project support within the wider Finance function


The roles sits within the finance team, which constitutes approximately 30 colleagues based primarily at our Head Office in Swindon supporting Group Finance, Tax, Treasury, General Ledger accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis and Business Partnering activities.

Our transactional finance activities (Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivable and Treasury) are outsourced to a third party provider, Tech Mahindra.

The Tech Mahindra team are based in Noida, India and are considered very much an integral and important part of the finance team and are supported and managed by a small onshore team.


About you


The role would suit Experience of managing a Treasury team in a shared services environment with UK and International banking.

It requires a technically strong accountant, who has experience of IFRS financial reporting for a Group and the disclosure requirements of a PLC.

Whilst not crucial, it would be desirable that the person holds a CIMA, ACT or QBE qualification.

  • Strong financial, accounting and analytical skills
  • Ability to problem solve and get to root cause of issues/variances
  • Attentive to detail
  • Strong people skills with ability to motivate, coach and mentor lower levels
  • Able to make judgements, decisions and recommendations to Senior levels
  • Competent in influencing all levels of management and team including ability to adapt style to different levels/teams, internal and external
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Shows personal drive to achieve targets and results
  • Ability to remain calm in pressurised situations
