Hybrid working - main office base Hertford, travel to district and borough offices when required

Salary Range:
£33,820 with the opportunity to progress to £37,261 per annum - Pay increase pending


Hours: 37 per week


Contract:
Fixed Term until 31st December 2025

Hertfordshire County Council is committed to increasing electric vehicle infrastructure across the county.

This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Grown & Environment team and help us achieve our vision to enable residents and businesses across Hertfordshire to recharge their electric vehicles conveniently, and appropriately.


Purpose of the role:


The primary aim of the role is to work with our district and borough councils to ensure the implementation of additional electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the county in line with our Electric Vehicle Strategy.

You will act as the main point of contact with district and boroughs within a defined geographical area providing them with support and guidance in the following areas:

  • Identification of suitable areas for charge-points
  • Procurement of chargepoint operators
  • Access to funding for chargepoints
  • Working with highways colleagues to ensure correct process is followed for the installation of chargepoints
  • Monitoring general chargepoint installations in your area


You will also help support the delivery of HCC's sustainable transport policies and strategies, which includes researching and assessing emerging sustainable technologies and solutions and identifying opportunities for sustainable initiatives that could support green transport.


Challenges and opportunities


The role requires day to day liaison with both external and internal stakeholders to provide advice, support, and guidance on the processes to enable the installation of Electric Vehicle Charge-points.

You will be required to manage a programme of activities and act on your own initiative to solve problems and provide appropriate advice.


Technical skills and experience required for the role:

We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals with an interest / experience in sustainability and the transition towards electric vehicles.

You'll have a track record of delivering work at a high standard within agreed milestones.

With highly developed interpersonal skills you will be confident in working alongside various internal & external stakeholders and be able to use your own initiative to resolve any issues or conflicts that arise.

  • Project and programme management experience
  • Clear, decisive, and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team including with external stakeholders.
  • Awareness of Democratic processes (desirable)
