About the Role:


We are looking for a compassionate, patient and skilled Personal Assistant to provide dedicated care for our client, an 18-year-old non-verbal young lady living in Hemingford Grey with athethoid cerebral palsy.

The role involves a 36-hour 2:1 support, both in the client's home and in the community.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with full personal care and daily living activities.
  • Supporting the client as a communication partner using Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Supporting the client with mobility, including hoisting and transferring.
  • Supporting the client within her own home and at school.
  • Supporting the client with accessing the community.
  • Supporting the client with meal preparation and health and fitness.
  • Supporting the client with therapy activities.
  • Writing daily records.
  • Working with a team of established PAs, support workers, teachers and therapists, and the client's family members
  • Driving the client's vehicle (WAV) as needed.
  • Ensuring a safe and comfortable environment in the client's home.

Requirements:


  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • A confident and sensitive approach to care, with respect for the client's independence.
  • Experience in supporting individuals with cerebral palsy or similar conditions is preferred.
  • A full, valid UK driving license.
  • Physical ability to assist with mobility and handling.
  • Experience with challenging behaviours.
  • Flexibility to work the agreed hours.
  • Preference for nonsmokers.
  • Previous experience in a similar role and ideally using AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) is preferred.

Experience:

- caring for someone in their own home: 1 year (required)
- working with someone with a brain injury: 1 year (required)
- professional care (working for a care provider in the UK): 3 years (required)

  • Living in the UK: 3 years (required)

Licence/Certification:
- right to work full time in the UK without sponsorship (required)

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (required)
