Job Duties:
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of developments in guidance and transition work for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) and a great chance to contribute to positive changes in young people's lives


The Services for Young People (SfYP) LDD Team provides a range of specialist services for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) which continues to develop.

This involves providing careers information, advice, and guidance to youngpeople and their parents through statutory and traded delivery work with schools and colleges; development of Preparing for Adulthood transition plans in line with legislation and delivery of Personal Adviser support for young people with learningdisabilities who are Leaving Care.


You will use person centred guidance approaches with young people enabling them to make informed decisions and have a clear plan outlining their needs and expected outcomes.

You will provide and co-ordinate assessments to support their engagement in education,training, work opportunities and positive activities.


You must have a Level 6 qualification in Career Guidance and Development or equivalent Career Guidance qualification and experience in working with young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

It is essential that you have excellent communicationskills with young people, parents, and professionals.


We will consider non-qualified staff for a trainee role, but you will need to be prepared to undertake the Level 6 Career Development Professional Higher Apprenticeship.


You will need to be able to travel independently around and out of the county so a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.


The post holder will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people with LDD and their families by helping them to make choices about their futures.
