The Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, individual to join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers at Denmark Hill site in Camberwell.

MEMS provide a comprehensive service to the Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to develop and support its Medical Device Management Policy.

This includes managing medical equipment throughout the duration of its lifecycle, medical equipment training, medical engineering, and operating the Medical Equipment Library.

We are a department of close to 30 staff including engineers, scientists and administrators, and support over 20,000 medical devices.


You will need to be a team player who is eager to learn, as well as being able to work alone.

Knowledge and/or experience of medical equipment and medical equipment management is essential. Flexibility is essential to accommodate the constantly changing demands of a very busy service.

The Driver/Stores operative works to support the technologists who provide the MEMS service.

Principle requirements for this role are to transport equipment and associated materials between the main hospital site at Denmark Hill and the Faraday building or other King's sites; send, receive and maintain accurate records for equipment being returned to service providers for repair; Order, receive and process spare part stock and manage the medical equipment spare part stores and take biannual stock counts.

The post holder will also be expected to manage equipment that has come to the end of its lifecycle and requires removal from Trust premises.

A vehicle is provided to transport items between sites.

Post holder must possess a full UK driver's license and, for car insurance purposes, must be over 18 years of age.

  • Transport equipment, spares and associated materials between Faraday Building and main hospital site or other King's sites on a daily basis or as directed by line manager.
  • Manage and maintain the MEMS stores system using Trust asset management database system, ensuring that recorded stock levels remain accurate and at appropriate levels.
  • Send, receive and maintain accurate records for equipment being returned to service providers for repair.
  • Manage process of removal of equipment at end of its useful life from Trust premises to external organisation, ensuring transfer of ownership of said equipment and maintain accurate records.
