    Job Title

    An Interim Privacy Counsel is sought on a 6-month fixed term contract by a diversified financial service company with a significant global footprint.

    The successful candidate will report to the Legal Director and work closely with various stakeholders, including senior executives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Monitor compliance and data practices to ensure alignment with applicable GDPR and data protection laws in international jurisdictions.
    • Develop and support the implementation of a data governance function and related procedures.
    • Advise on regulatory matters, including GDPR, European payments regulations, and other international laws.
    • Implement a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with the GDPR, including developing templates for data collection and assisting with data mapping.
    • Create and maintain internal policies and compliance documents.
    • Collaborate with outside counsel on local data privacy law issues across international businesses.
    • Lead staff training, data protection impact assessments, and internal audits.

    About You

    • A qualified lawyer with 3+ years' experience in compliance or legal functions, preferably in finance or regulated industries.
    • A track record of handling a busy workload with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent critical judgement, quick thinking, and agility.
    • Strong background in advising on GDPR and global data protection matters.
    • Data Protection and/or Privacy certification such as CIPP, CIPT.
    • Experience in developing policy and compliance training.

    Salary

    $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
