Acorn Recruitment is currently seeking a Procurement and Materials Management Officer to work with our Public Sector client based in Wakefield on a temporary basis for approximately 3 months.

As a Procurement and Materials Management Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out various duties that support departmental targets and adhere to standard operating procedures.

Your main focus will be on providing an efficient and effective procurementand supply service to the Trust, specifically in regards to the Materials Management service for designated wards and departments.

You will be responsible for all electronic ordering and requisitioning for these areas, as well as corresponding with suppliersand the NHS SCCL to ensure that prices and deliveries are accurate and monitored.

Providing an efficient, effective procurement & supply service to the Trust, in respect of a materials management service, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing products and services required by wards and departments through material management top-ups, and download to nhs supply chain using electronic data capture units
  • Eprocurement requisitions onto systems and creation into purchase orders for goods and services, ensuring the right goods are ordered from the right supplier at the right price to be delivered at the right time and place
  • Maintain stock at the appropriate reorder level using hand held data capture devices and inventory stock control systems; management of the replenishing of stock; development & review of ward / department materials management systems / stock control andstock requirements and the putting away of stock to agreed standards
  • Provides labelling of ward/department stock/storage areas as required enabling stock to be stored and used efficiently
  • Assist in the roll out of eprocurement end user requisitioning as required by verbally advising users or giving face to face training in how to operate the system
  • Ensure that the Trust's procurement is undertaken in accordance with the organisation's Best Practice and Financial Standing Instructions
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety issues with particular knowledge of handling and safe storage of materials, COSHH implications of material purchasing
  • Ability to organise own workload
  • Participate in formal audits of materially managed areas

Furthermore, you will be responsible for providing support to designated areas within the Trust to improve the overall material management service.

This includes reducing inventory levels and assisting clinical teams with product requirements.

You will alsoact as a customer service representative for users, communicating with NHSSC and external suppliers regarding discrepancies, returns, and delivery times.

In addition, you will participate in meetings with clinical staff, provide advice on procurement issues,and analyse data on stock levels, orders, deliveries, and more.

It is important to have a strong understanding of customer needs and the necessary skills and knowledge to provide the correct level of stock.

You must also be able to persuade customers to adoptthe correct supply route and demonstrate innovation in improving the service provided.

It is important to understand how your role fits into the strategic and financial goals of the Trust; you'll be expected to work within a team environment and contribute fully to the aims and objectives of the department.

A strong work ethic and commitmentto the organisation's outcomes is required, as well as a professional approach to all aspects of work.

You will also be responsible for interacting with users of the Supplies service in a professional and customer-focused manner, effectively communicatingwith both internal and external customers.

You must demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and integrity in your dealings with all customers, and be flexible and adaptable to changes in the supply chain.

Hours: 8:30am-5pm, Mon - Fri, 37.5 hours per week
Pay pre-12 weeks: £10.28 per hour
Pay post-12 weeks: £11:14 per hour
