Master Tooling Engineer

Sheffield

Permanent Full Time

Monday - Thursday Friday

Salary:

Role and responsibilities

  • Always operate the highest standard of workmanship
  • As a master tooling engineer, you would be capable of working with the NPI and design teams to ensure the optimum design of all 'new' progressive stamp tooling, taking into account the feasibility of the parameters set.
  • As a master tooling engineer, you will be able to diagnose and solve all issues relating to the piercing and forming of highspeed multistage progressive stamping tools in a timely manner.
  • Understand the urgency of any situation and react without lowering the standard of workmanship expected from a master tooling engineer.
  • Liaise with the production management team and advise factual tooling status when required.
  • Ensure that vital tooling spares are maintained
  • Ensure that consumable tooling spares stocks are maintained
  • Liaise with the tool design team for drawings, drawing updates and improvements.
  • Analyse, identify and correct/repair tooling issues that prevent or hinder normal planned production timelines and rates.
  • The correction/repair method should take into consideration the 'live' allocated production slot status, and where a 'temporary' solution is found, ensure that a permanent fix is planned and documented for the tool or process, ready for the next productionrequirements.
  • Provide input / detail on relevant Quality concerns (8D's or internal quality issues)
  • Coach and train apprentices and tool makers (including new starters) when required.
  • Keep a flexible approach to time management, especially at end of shift.
