Job Summary:

We are a successful and forward-thinking firm of Chartered accountants and business advisers in Wimborne, Dorset. This is an exciting long-term opportunity for you to join our dynamic accounts team.

Reporting to the Accounts Manager you will be involved in a wide range of administrative and clerical activities to help support and grow our firm.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Preparation of client working paper files.
  • Sorting financial documents.
  • Liasing with clients to obtain & maintain accounting information.
  • Updating financial ledgers.
  • Bookkeeping activities for a wide range of clients.
  • Submission of finalised accounts and tax returns to Companies House & HMRC.
  • Assisting the accounts team & liaising with the tax and payroll teams, as well as our partners.
  • Basic company secretarial assistance.
  • Identifying & proactively communicating advisory points to management.
  • Assisting clients with accounting software and other bookkeeping queries as required.
  • Working with other team members to develop & implement improved processes and services.
  • Keeping up to date with any changes in accounting regulations.

Must Have:


  • Strong administration, organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage a changing environment and focus on the firm's goals
  • Ability to work independently in a highly organised way to manage multiple tasks and requests
  • Friendly and welcoming manner with professional presentation
  • A willingness to work with others and respect their views.


  • Excellent IT skills

  • Microsoft products (mainly Excel & Word).

Desirable:


  • Experience in a private sector accounting or professional firm.
  • Professional qualification / part qualified e.g. AAT.
  • IT experience of bookkeeping packages (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS etc).

Role Status:

  • 37.5 hours per week (9am to 5pm)
