Patients will range from those with learning difficulties and dementia to those who are highly informed of their medical condition, from young persons in their early teens to patients in late old age, from those who are highly articulate to those who have little ability to conduct a conversation in English.

All patients must be dealt with in the same professional manner.

As this programme is multi-centered, the post holder will support the programme in various settings, therefore travel will be involved.

Grading takes place at the North Middlesex site. The post holder will also be expected to work at out of hours clinics (evenings and Saturdays).

This is a Band 4/5 position.

Moving up to a band five is dependent on completion of the Level 3 Health Screening Diploma (Diabetic Eye) and experience.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate his/her previous experience of working within a busy diabetic Eye screening centre, including being able to use a digital retinal capture station and primary disease grading in accordance with National Screening Committee QA standards.

Due to the demands of the service it will be necessary to cover clinical duties across different hospital and GP practice based sites within the programme, and so there will be a need to travel between various locations during the working week and on Saturdays, sometimes carrying equipment.

However, we are particularly looking for someone to work at our clinics in Barnet, Camden & Islington. The programme also uses a Mobile Screening Unit for screening.
