Description
This is an exciting time for Health Improvement in Wales.

We have a policy environment that seeks to create the conditions for good health for all; through legislation such as our Wellbeing of Future Generations Act and a range of other supportive policies.

New investment and a new Tobacco Strategy; along with Public Health Wales own Long Term Strategy provides real opportunity for dynamic and innovative public health leadership across the system.

Welsh Government has published an ambitious plan to deliver a smoke free future generation by 2030.

We need dynamic Public Health Leaders to ensure that we maximise the potential of a whole system approach to deliver this goal.

You will work across national organisations and supporting Government but also building strong relationships with local public health teams to support their work.

The post sits within or newly formed Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Group.

You will support the Public Health Directors Leadership Group in Wales in taking forward an expanding joint programme of work; delivering on 'once for Wales' action and enabling local public health team colleagues to deliver.

The Division has a strong commitment to research and development and all Consultants are encouraged to develop a research interest working closely with our academic partners.

You will also contribute to training as we also regularly host Public Health Speciality Registrars.

We encourage the development of close working relationships with our partner agencies in Ireland, Scotland and England so that we can share experience and learn from each other.

The successful applicants will have demonstrable experience at a senior level and highly developed influencing, negotiation and motivational skills to drive transformational change.

Public Health Wales is the National Public Health Institute in Wales.

Our vision is 'Working to achieve a healthier future for Wales' where we play a pivotal role in driving improvements in population health and well-being, reducing health inequalities, improving healthcare outcomes, protecting the public and supporting the development of health in all policies across Wales.

You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.

The successful applicants will have demonstrable experience at a senior level and highly developed influencing, negotiation and motivational skills to drive transformational change.
