Do you want to make a real difference to victims of crime and protect the public?


We are looking to recruit a Public Protection Officer SSRP on a full time, permanent basis to work within Public Protection, VCCU Offender Management (MOSOVO) Department.**We work closely with partner agencies to provide a consistent, supportive help to victims.


Key Responsibilities


As a Public Protection Officer you will be responsible for the management of sexual violence suspects identified during or post criminal investigation.

You will proactively gather, record and assess information on such offenders by compiling an intelligence package, completing phone calls/visits to them in the community, and offering them an opportunity to take part in the programme.

You will be responsible for assessing the ongoing risk to the public posed by such offenders, producing and managing plans to mitigate this risk.

You will actively investigate identified suspects. This will include assisting with the searching of premises and the completion of investigative interviews to bring about prosecution.

You will also complete written files for any court process' and attend court when necessary in order to bring about the conviction of suspects.


You will participate in multi-agency working, ensuring the effective sharing of information to manage offenders effectively and protect the public.


The must haves

  • Experience of managing a high caseload.
  • Ability to ensure that all written and spoken communication is accurate, wellstructured and recorded.
  • Experience of preparing and producing complex written rationale based reports.
  • Experience of working under pressure, with limited supervision.
  • Experience of working in a confidential environment where the handing of sensitive information and material has an effect on others.
  • Experience of working with Partner Agencies.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to complete a basis driving test for use of unmarked Police vehicles.
  • Be trained in the following or be willing to complete training upon appointment:
  • Use of Police computer systems, including ViSOR
  • Officer Protection Training and First Aid Training
  • Dynamic and static risk assessments

Salary £30,783-32,772 per annum


For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
