We have an exciting opportunity to join a busy, high profile team handling and investigating some high-profile planning enforcement work.

About the role


The role involves investigating, monitoring and where appropriate, taking action against alleged breaches of planning controls in a constrained area which includes Green Belt, AONB and other sensitive environments.

You will spend much of your time out and about visiting sites but will also work from home or the office to assess and collate evidence.

Roles at this level are expected to work unsupervised for much of the time, accessing and assessing information independently.

This is a permanent role.


Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

About you


The position requires either experience of enforcement of legislation or working knowledge of Town and Country planning law preferably with some experience relevant to the role.

Good communication skills and attention to detail are important.

Our challenges are wide ranging and as a result the role provides a great of opportunity to develop your experience and skills.


You will also have the ability to:

  • Make analytical reasoning and recommendations about particular areas of work,
  • Engage with developers, contractors and members of the public within the relevant codes of practice,
  • Present evidence clearly and confidently, both written and verbal,
  • Manage own work without close supervision.
