    Description

    Due to continued success and new project awards, we are seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our busy design studio at Trant Engineering's Head Office in Southampton.

    We are a multi-disciplined team responsible for the design management of various projects. This role reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and involves managing all aspects of electrical design.

    Duties:

    1. Managing project-specific design deliverables
    2. Designing in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures
    3. Conducting detailed design in accordance with Trant Procedures
    4. Interpreting client requirements from documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)
    5. Communicating with clients, external resources, and subcontractors to ensure specification compliance
    6. Performing site surveys of existing assets
    7. Carrying out optioneering and feasibility studies
    8. Assisting with tender pricing
    9. Creating procurement specifications for electrical equipment and construction drawings
    10. Project managing third-party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams
    11. Reviewing vendor control system functional design specifications for compliance
    12. Reviewing vendor data and drawings for electrical equipment and package plant
    13. Managing internal and external project-specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager
    14. Undertaking and checking design calculations, including modelling the complete power system
    15. Preparing drawings for CAD production
    16. Assisting in developing process control philosophies with the Process Engineer and suppliers
    17. Creating electrical scope and works enquiry submission documents
    18. Estimating material and labour costs
    19. Undertaking design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals
    20. Preparing detailed electrical specifications
    21. Producing single-line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, and other related documents
    22. Recording and documenting design changes through to completion and issuing "As Built" documents

    Qualifications:

    1. An appropriate electrical qualification or experience
    2. Chartered Engineer status is advantageous
