Are you an experienced Quality Inspector who would like to work in a modern, clean, warm factory, offering excellent working conditions and career prospects?


Our client is a large, growing independent precision engineering company, making components for the nuclear, defence and renewables industries with machining capabilities from 3mm diameter to 50-tonne components and an additional permanent Quality Inspector.

Package

  • Excellent rate of pay of up £22 per hour (inclusive of shift allowance), potential with overtime to earn in excess of £50,000 per year
  • 2 weeks days, followed by 2 weeks of night shift (night shift premium is 30%) Permanent nights or days could be an option.
  • 37 hour working week (30 minute unpaid lunch break)

Job Role

  • Reporting directly to the QC Supervisor, coordinate company inspection activities to ensure the required quality standards are achieved, maintained and improved.
  • Ensure quality system procedures are being adhered to and are operating effectively
  • Inspect bookings and release via IFS and Shop Traveller
  • Ensure component traceability/ identification is present and correct
  • Complete inprocess and final inspection checks
  • Complete nonconforming material identification and documentation
  • Perform 100% Inspection of components
  • Raise DMR (defective material review) in line with the identified process
  • Support with inspection training as required
  • Ensure process failures and improvement opportunities are brought to the attention of the process owner or QC Supervisor
  • 5S principles are applied to the QC department, and standards are sustained to audit requirements
  • Continually develop teamwork skills and promote a teamwork culture within the QC Dept
  • Documentation and IFS transactions are correct and maintained to a suitable standard
  • Support training of apprentices and trainees
  • Have a flexible approach to work activities, including working throughout the site
  • Work safely and comply with the company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policy
Quality Inspector Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of quality inspection methods
  • Knowledge and understanding of reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of accurately converting metric/ imperial measurements
  • Knowledge in the use of precision measuring equipment, including; micrometres, depth gauges, veneers and callipers
Quality Inspector Experience

  • Demonstrable experience working in a quality inspection role in a similar environment
  • Experience in inspecting components for various industries (aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, defence)
