Role Summary


The interim post holder, Reporting to the Compliance Manager, will be working within a team of Building Officers responsible for the Facilities Management of the Client's Corporate Landlord Estate, retained School Estate and other building assets around the borough, providing advice to building users in relation to building related operational use, particularly with regards to Fire Assurance.


This specific role will be to revising/renewing and completing Fire Risk Assessments and Health and Safety Assessment via site surveys and desk top analysis.

This will also involve carrying out staff training as and when required on Fire Assurance.

You will liaise with the Compliance and Capital Programme Manager, Building Officers, and other officers within Asset Management including surveyors and consultancy staff on the creation of method statements, provision of technical advice and practical solutions for the Client and completing reports to a high standard using MS Word and Excel - to include import of digital images into documents and using web-based software (Asset Manager.

Key Duties/Areas of Responsibility
Provide technical and professional advice to the service and its customers.


Lead/facilitate other staff to ensure effective service delivery and delivery of projects, including training, planning and allocating work, checking work is done to time and quality and carrying out on-job training.

Carry out research, monitoring of data and reviews of local and national policy and best practice.


Monitor the performance of the service ensuring that performance and quality standards are maintained in line with the service's performance management framework and service and corporate plan objectives.

Produce action plans and work programmes and assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and marketing strategies.

Organise and chair meetings, focus groups and working groups, both internal and external, including setting or agreeing agendas.

Ensure good financial management to meet budgetary targets

Promote good working relationships with internal customers, other local authorities, outside agencies and the private sector.


Present formal and informal reports to all levels of management and Elected Members, including recommendations for improvement or future action.

Handle customer complaints (verbal and written) to the appropriate resolution within agreed timescales.
