An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner (Nurse or Paramedic) to work in Hywel Dda University Health Board managed practice, Tenby Surgery in South Pembrokeshire.


This progressive and challenging role offers the post holder the opportunity to provide a high-quality patient focused care in general practice.

The post supports and promotes the role of the Advanced Practitioner through innovation, clinical skills and diagnosis, treatment, review and referral.

This post would also be a good opportunity for an advanced practitioner to have in-house mentorship for further education and development for such things and independent prescribing.

There is also an opportunity to work closely with our colleagues in the OOH/111 service offering them support if available.

This will be supported by your practice team to enable you to do so.


The South Pembrokeshire Cluster Network serves a population of approximately 54,000 in a mainly rural environment with 99.1% of the Cluster population living in an area classified as rural.

The Locality is a busy tourist destination as well as a popular retirement location, which contributes to the higher than average number of over 65s and 85s.

The locality hosts many popular sporting events all year around e.g.

Iron Man Wales and The Tenby Long Course Weekend, as well as lots of beautiful beaches, golf courses and local attractions.


Main duties include patient triage, face to face clinics following patient triage, Chronic disease monitoring, making up part of the practice clinical team which will feed into our MDT and CRT reviews.

Tenby Surgery is a Hywel Dda Health Board managed practice. The practice has a full complement of in-house management who are directly supported by colleagues within the health board. This includes the senior management team within Primary Care, more specifically the GMS team.

A Primary care nursing support team, a primary care service manager (over see's cluster development and projects) as well as the practice clinical leads having support from Hywel Dda's medical directorate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.

Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

  • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
  • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
  • Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
